A Religious War in Israel's Army

It looks likely clashes between secular liberal Jews and religious Jewish nationalist in Israel may increase along with the hostility between Arabs and Jews.

Here's a quote from the above mentioned article.
A soldier, identified by the pseudonym Ram, is quoted as saying that in Gaza, “the rabbinate brought in a lot of booklets and articles and their message was very clear: We are the Jewish people, we came to this land by a miracle, God brought us back to this land and now we need to fight to expel the non-Jews who are interfering with our conquest of this holy land. This was the main message, and the whole sense many soldiers had in this operation was of a religious war.”
If you look at the demographics, Israel's Arabs and Orthodox Jews are having the most children. The more secular (moderate) Israel Jews have fewer children. This doesn't seem like a road to peace.

Israel is facing other pressing problems as well. It is the second most-densely crowded country in the developed world. There are water shortages and other environmental concerns. And then, there is the confiscation of Arabs lands and the building of a wall in the West Bank.

There are several blog entries in the history section describing the intolerant behavior of Orthodox Jews, the violent behavior of Muslims along with the bloody history of the region. There will certainly be more blog entries in the future.
