Saint William of Norwich

March 22, 1144
Saint William of Norwich an English boy died. His violent death was attributed to the entire Jewish community of Norwich. This is the first known medieval allegation of ritual murder or blood libel against Jews. On Feb 6, 1190, all Norwich Jews who didn't escape to the support of the local castle were slaughtered in their village.

July 18, 1290
King Edward I issued an edict expelling all Jews from England. The expulsion was overturned 350 years later in 1656. The edict was the culmination of more than 200 years of conflict about usury (charging interest on loans).
